We can’t wait to see the difference that Love Mushrooms and its generous customers will make to dementia carers’ lives.
Here’s some more information about what we do to make sure dementia carers get the support they need.
Who are Dementia Carers Count?
We’re a registered charity which provides information, advice and support to thousands of dementia carers every year. We believe that no carer should feel overwhelmed or alone.

We campaign with dementia carers for changes to health and social care systems and services that will make the most difference to dementia carers’ lives and their ability to cope.
Carer Support Services
Dementia Carers Count helps dementia carers who are feeling isolated, overwhelmed and alone.
We have a free and confidential Carer Support Line which is open Monday to Friday, from 9am to 5pm, with calls answered by a team of specialists. Carers can share what they are struggling with and are given advice and guidance. If additional help is needed, then carers are given a telephone appointment with a relevant specialist. Carers may be referred on to one of the charity’s counsellors for free counselling sessions. Carers can also be supported to complete paperwork for benefit claims and other financial entitlements.
We connect dementia carers through our online peer support groups . These groups are facilitated by one of our specialists and enable carers to connect and benefit from speaking to people who understand exactly what they are going through. Carers feel heard and validated by sharing their experiences and value the mutual support of the groups.
We have a range of help and information available on our website to help with every aspect of caring for someone with dementia. This includes how to cope with everyday challenges, as well as how to look after yourself as a carer and information about carers’ rights and entitlements.
Campaigning
We campaign with dementia carers for changes that will make a difference to carers’ lives. All campaigning activity is informed by what dementia carers say they need
most and offers opportunities for carers to share their lived experiences.
We carry out an annual survey of dementia carers to help shape our campaigning
focus. Our most recent survey findings have shown that too many carers are
reaching crisis Carers reaching crisis - Dementia Carers Count.
We regularly speak up about the need for better funding and resourcing of adult
social care in order to prevent carers from reaching crisis points due to a lack of
support following a dementia diagnosis.
Love Mushrooms will donate £1 from the sale of every Lion's Mane capsules (60) to Dementia Carers Count - supporting their incredible work, giving back where we can.
